WINTERMITTS
———————-
Wintermitts have created the latest addition to their catalogue and easily their most refined album to date, Oceans. Produced by Kees Dekker (Plants and Animals, Rah Rah), Oceans is a lesson in dazzling orchestral pop. It’s as rollicking as a mid-sea canoe ride, as warm as Grandma’s home-knit sweater (or mitten). It’s an expression of wonderment in the face of love, of nature, of art itself.. It’s about pushing past the dark moments to see that, yeah, life’s something actually worth grooving on.

Oceans is a world all its own — an album that only six friends, living in the rain-soaked left hand corner of Canada, with a pile of string and brass instruments, could have made — and they’d like to welcome you into it.

AUNTS & UNCLES
—————————
Aunts and Uncles formed in the spring of 2009 in Vancouver, Canada combining members from an eclectic mix of bands, including the SSRIs, Like Animals Again, and The Barcelona Chair (although not really sound like any of those bands when we play together..) This genre-blending trio specializes in intricate and dynamic baroque indie pop, featuring a foundation of violin, baritone guitar, drums, glokenspiel, ukulele and keyboards, rounded out by strong vocal harmonies. With a sound that intersects somewhere between the Arcade Fire, Owen Pallett, and the Evens, this three-piece brings energy and emotion to the forefront of performances. Currently recording a new Album, they have been staying home working hard after they toured and released their debut self-titled EP last Summer 2011, which will be available in a one of a kind Zine format, with Artwork from five different local artists, along with some Aunts and Uncles T-Shirts!

THE KINGSGATE CHORUS
—————————————-
The Kingsgate Chorus was an accident waiting to happen. And when a small group of young people gathered in a living room to sing cover songs, it happened! Almost exactly one year later, the 30 members of the Kingsgate Chorus are rocking Mount Pleasant with their original arrangements of popular songs, old and new. From Springsteen to Timber Timbre, Talking Heads to Sufjan Stevens, this choir sings their faces off. 2012 is going to be all Canadian repertoire, for the KG, including collaborations with local bands and some classics for good measure.

Record spinnin’ by Sarah Buchanan!

Doors 8 PM, live music to follow around 9:30 PM.

The Interurban Gallery is a wonderful multi purpose gallery/venue with exposed brick walls, big windows and high ceilings; in what was a train station at Vancouver’s oldest address. Shows here are fun and cologne free. Let’s keep it that way!
All ages are welcome but you must show ID to enjoy the low cost bar. Absolutely NO outside alcohol or we will take it from you, drink it later, and mock you as the dumb ass(es) of the night.
